Katie West
I have been laughing for longer than I can remember and was delighted to find out about the practice of Laughter Yoga. I discovered Laughter Yoga a couple of years ago on a wintry evening at Jai Yoga. The rejuvenation I felt that night energized me all the way to spring, prompting me to pursue my certification from Dr. Kataria’s School of Laughter.
Laughter Yoga has the ability to ground us deeply in the present moment. When we are laughing, we cannot retain the stress of the day or the frustration we held with a co-worker or worry about something to come, when we are laughing all we can do is laugh.
Laughing requires us to be anchored in ourselves in the very moment we are experiencing. The act of laughing has a magical ability to transform our perspective. I am excited about the practice of laughing and look forward to see how and what it unfolds in my life.
Additionally, I am a Certified Empowerment Coach through iPEC, an accredited program through the International Coaching Federation. I work with clients all over the country to help them connect with their passion and realize how it relates to their purpose. With this discovery, my clients and I form an action plan, which empowers clients to complete their goals.
The breathwork in both yoga and Laughter Yoga has great meaning to me and is something I carry into my coaching as well. As I have learned to connect more with my breath, I have become aware of the strength of my intuitive voice and its ability to open doors where before there only seemed to be walls. When I make a more conscious effort to be aware of my own breathing, I am more grateful for all that is surrounding me; this breeds a feeling of abundance in life.
I love teaching workshops on life transitions, relationship transitions and transforming our inner critic. Through Maine Laughter Yoga, I offer Laughter Yoga for corporate retreats, professional development, and private parties.
