Open Class Descriptions

hand-to-foot.jpgOur OPEN CLASS SCHEDULE offers weekly, ongoing yoga classes. You may come to any of our open classes at anytime. There is no need to call ahead or to commit to a series. Begin at anytime; come to one class or come to 101 classes. It is up to you!

Our intention in offering these classes is to give you the flexibility that you need to make yoga a part of your lifestyle. Whether that is coming to the same class each week, enjoying a class or two while you are in the area on vacation, or coming to a different class every day of the year!

See below for descriptions of our open class schedule offerings!

BASICS
Great for beginners! Learn the fundamentals of a safe yoga practice: postures, alignment, breathing techniques and relaxation. Eight consecutive classes will give you a foundation to fully participate in our other classes and to begin a practice at home. We run these classes in 8-week cycles, but you can still come anytime if space is available. If you are new to yoga it is best to begin with the first class in the series. GENTLE
A slow-paced class including simple postures, gentle stretching and strengthening, breathwork to soothe and energize and meditation. All levels.

MODERATE

A full yoga practice with standing, sitting and reclining postures to stretch and strengthen. Will also include a full spectrum of breathwork, relaxation and meditation. Open to all levels, but best if you know the basics.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
VIGOROUS
A challenging class with flowing sequences of postures, inversions, arm balances, jumping, deep back and forward bends and more advanced variations of the postures. Eight months of yoga experience and a regular home practice are recommended before attending.
STAGE 2/3
A longer holding of postures to raise prana/life force. This class is a meditation in motion. Knowledge of the basics is recommended.
YIN YOGA
Quiet, slow, deep stretches you wouldn’t do on your own. Expect long holds. This class is excellent for improving flexibility and for opening of deep muscles and joints. Great cross-training. All levels welcome.
YIN/YANG YOGA
This is a great all around class! Experience both the exhilarating, heating practice of our vigorous-level classes AND the deep, slow, quiet focus on our yin-style classes. The first part of class will be dedicated to yang postures with an active, flowing sequence. The second half will bring us into the longer held postures that are the hallmark of the yin practice. This class offers the chance to bring balance to the body and practice mindfulness of the breath through two different, but complementary, practices. This class is appropriate for those who have completed the basics and are currently enjoying a regular moderate-level practice.
