Open Class Descriptions
Our OPEN CLASS SCHEDULE offers weekly, ongoing yoga classes. You may come to any of our open classes at anytime. There is no need to call ahead or to commit to a series. Begin at anytime; come to one class or come to 101 classes. It is up to you!
Our intention in offering these classes is to give you the flexibility that you need to make yoga a part of your lifestyle. Whether that is coming to the same class each week, enjoying a class or two while you are in the area on vacation, or coming to a different class every day of the year!
See below for descriptions of our open class schedule offerings!

BASICS
Great for beginners! Learn the fundamentals of a safe yoga practice: postures, alignment, breathing techniques and relaxation. Eight consecutive classes will give you a foundation to fully participate in our other classes and to begin a practice at home. We run these classes in 8-week cycles, but you can still come anytime if space is available. If you are new to yoga it is best to begin with the first class in the series. VINYASA
A vigorous and physically challenging class that moves through flowing sequences of postures (vinyasa), with an emphasis on mindful transitions and breath awareness. We also practice inversions, arm balances, jumping, deep back and forward bends and more advanced variations of the postures. Eight months of yoga experience and a regular home practice are recommended to participate in this class.

KRIPALU STAGE 2/3
This class involves fewer postures but with a longer hold of each pose (1-5 minutes) to strengthen our ability to stay calm and centered in the midst of intense sensation (Stage 2). We also will become aware of the flow of prana, or life force energy, in the body. Becoming sensitive to the movement of prana is a benefit of this practice. When we can feel the flow of prana, we can let it guide us in a moving meditation, a posture flow you create, based on the feelings of prana moving in your own body. This is stage 3 in Kripalu Yoga, also called Meditation in Motion. We practice Stage 2 (the longer holds) for about 1 hour and then move to Stage 3 (moving meditation) for 10-15 minutes. We finish with relaxation, of course! Knowledge of the basics is recommended.

Rise and flow with the rhythm of nature, make yoga a regular part of self-care and apply yogic principles to your life. In this early morning yoga class, you will practice techniques for greater well-being through foundational yoga postures, basic yogic breathwork and meditation. The effects and the intention of your practice on the mat will infuse your daily life. And you’ll have a whole day after yoga!! There will be an optional extra 15 minutes of guided meditation at the end of class. All levels welcome.

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restore inner balance and a sense of the sacred in your life through this nurturing and replenishing practice. Postures are fully supported using straps, blankets and cushions and then held for several minutes to offer an opportunity for deep renewal. Practiced regularly, Restorative Yoga can increase flexibility and ease your mind while actively countering the effects of stress, avoiding chronic imbalances, burnout and illness.

ALL LEVELS YOGA
We invite and welcome all yoga practitioners, beginners to advanced, those who enjoy a vigorous practice and those who enjoy a gentle practice, to practice together. There is much joy in sharing a practice where everyone’s strengths and limits are honored. The teacher will craft a class to meet you wherever you are in your practice. Each class starts with a check-in so that the teacher can hear where you are and what you need from your practice today. The teacher will offer and teach many variations of poses so that you can always find one that works for you. You’ll enjoy this diverse class and you’ll learn so much about yourself and your yoga.
