With the official arrival of Autumn comes the opportunity to look for equality in our lives, bodies, minds and practice. Early in the Autumn season, the hours of light and darkness are equal, providing equal time for activity and rest, for expanding outward and looking within. Yoga practice provides the perfect place and time to both grow and center, and to strike a balance between the two.
As always, this month at Jai, we have several special workshops and classes which will help you do just that! Keep reading to learn more…we look forward to seeing you soon!

PRACTICE
CIN MUDRA – CONSCIOUSNESS SEAL
Mudras are gestures or postures that allow us to work with our prana or life-force energy. These “energy seals” are symbolic of particular states of mind or consciousness and, when practiced regularly, are said to evoke those states within ourselves.
Cin mudra is the gesture of consciousness and is excellent for concentration and evoking a receptive, peaceful state. This mudra stimulates the loving kindness of the heart chakra and is equivalent to the yogic version of “everything is a-okay.”
Try this mudra during the Autumn season whenever you need a moment of reflection or expansion of your true nature.
1 – Begin with the palm facing up and the hand and fingers relaxed
2 – Bring the tips of the thumb and index finger together, applying gentle and equal pressure between the two finger tips
3 – Allow the other fingers to relax and extend outward with the fingernails facing toward the earth
4 – Relax and breathe, focusing on the energy of the mudra
Note: For meditation, the hands can rest on the thighs, but Cin mudra is appropriate at almost any point in asana practice or during everyday life.
