LIVING A LIFE OF BALANCE THROUGH AYURVEDA
SATURDAYS 2-5 PM JAN 29, FEB 26 & MARCH 26 $35/1st class only or $85/series

Spend a few lovely afternoons with Carol Morrison, Ayurvedic Practitioner, as she shares the teachings of Ayurveda and how you can apply its principles and practices to your own healthy lifestyle.

This participatory, 3-part course is a study of the ancient system of health and healing called Ayurveda, the “Science of Life.” Ayurveda, a sister science to Yoga, works with natural rhythms, wholesome foods, healthful routines and using herbs, yoga, massage and other cleansing practices to create vibrant health. Each class will build off the next and you will be encouraged to try some of the practices at home in order to develop your own Ayurvedic routine.

Session 1: Introduction to Principles of Ayurveda
In this first session you will learn about the 5 elements and the 3 “doshas” or constitutions. You will take a test to determine your own constitution and discover the natural rhythms and recommended daily routines for each dosha, especially your own. You’ll be encouraged to choose a few routines to incorporate into your daily life and report on their effect of your overall health at the next session. Session 1 is a prerequisite for Session 2 and 3, but can be attended as a single workshop for $35.

Session 2: The Practice of Ayurveda and the Philosophy of Disease
Learn how Ayurveda views the causes of disease, prevention of disease and treatment. Experience the tastes that build your “digestive fire,” an important element of disease prevention, and learn about teas and diets that encourage detoxification and health promotion.

Session 3: Cleansing and Coming into Balance
We’ll share our experiences with previous personal practices and distill what works well for each of us. Now, you will be ready to learn about more intense cleansing practices and programs. You’ll be introduced to seasonal food lists and balancing seasonal routines for maximum wellness. Jen from Jai will guide you in yoga poses for each dosha.
